It's Mother's Day weekend (shout out to my BFF, Ashley for joining the club with Mackenzie's arrival last night)!! Last year I wrote this poem in an attempt to win a contest at a local massage and day spa... we didn't win, but I thought y'all might enjoy reading it. We're planning on a fantastic weekend and even though Derek can't join us I know his pressie is on the way, and my mom is going to love it... he really out did me, so I'm going to have to do some more serious shopping before Sunday.
My mom, Lorene.
Even though she’s always on a diet…
She orders coffee with her ice cream!
Pictures are her passion,
All black is her favorite fashion.
When we step out of line
Her tongue starts a lashing.
When I was growing
I thought she was pretty lame,
But, she never missed a play, a practice, or game.
She was there in sun and rain.
Cheering louder than any other…
Looking back, I know I was lucky to call her 'mother'.
She bought me a new Easter dress this year.
I protested “Mom, I’m 28!”
She smiled and said
“Hush, and stand up straight.”
That’s just who she is.
She wants us to be our best.
When she can’t protect us she goes without her rest.
Now don’t get me wrong, this woman can be quite fun.
She drinks pina coladas with a splash of rum!
She loves to shop all around.
And, hosts the most lavish parties in town.
Now, she has a little granddaughter named Lorelai,
She’s the apple of her eye.
They play together and watch Barney on DVD,
Meemi loves to snuggle that little sweet pea.
My mom loves her family most of all.
If she could spend six hours at Jackson Massage,
She would have a ball!
