I'll have a Shirley Temple, please.

We had to wait at the tiki bar before the Birthdays Dinner in Ohio, and Lorelai had no problem ordering what she wanted :)

A Speak Easy

On Saturday night after the auction and birthdays dinner my parents kept Lorelai so wwe could go out. Derek and Angie took us to the worlds coolest bar, Derek's local watering hole, The Velvet Tango Room. When you walk in the door there is a regular bar up front. And, Derek didn't tell us what to expect so we walked in and headed to grab a drink but Derek was talking to a hostess and said we had a reservation, and used the word "lime".... still not sure what to expect we started following the hostess to the coat room, but we didn't have any coats to check! And, then after passing into the locked coat room she opened the mirror/ door and we went into the coolest private bar in the back!! Loved it!

Ole Miss Alumni Dinner

We went to a Ole Miss alumni football kick-off party tonight, complete with bouncers/ jumpers for the kids. We've been to this dinner every year since we moved here and it's such a great opportunity to gather with fellow Rebels for toddys and excitement about the upcoming season. We were so happy to have Jon Rawl and Brian Ferguson (also pictured here :) from The Colonel Reb. Foundation. Thanks for coming to town, y'all!!

Auction

My grandparents were two of the finest people I will ever have the pleasure of meeting, and I can unabashedly say that they loved me. Their house was the back drop to some of my best childhood memories. My grandma always rolled out the red carpet when we came to town, and packed a years worth of love into the short visits we had. My grandpa was a funny, sometimes stubborn, hero that Lorelai took an immediate liking to.

My grandparents' estate was auctioned away on Saturday. We went to Ohio to buy some special things, and it was so sad. My dad said it best... the house wasn't different because all the furniture was gone, it was different because for the first time ever we weren't welcome there.

Cahill Family: I'm here for each and every one of you if you ever need anything, or just want to say hello, please do.

Rusty's Party

We had a mini cook out party on Sunday, and my mom gave Rusty this hilarious "redneck" gift bag filled with RC cola, a moon pie, bbq sauce, a cookbook, and a card written on a paper bag :)

Close up of the lip...

I LOVE this picture, Lorelai makes this face all the time, not just when she's sad but when she wants a kiss she pops that bottom lip out and kisses you with it :)

Happy Birthday, Bestie.

Rusty is 31 today! Rusty and I got married when he was just 25, engaged when he was just 24, fell in love when we were just college kids even younger than that. We've grown up so much together. I am lucky to have a husband that loves me day in and day out, year after year, and here's to another great one. I love you more and more, with each passing year!

You're my favorite deputy...

Lorelai is obsessed with Toy Story. Disney did an excellent job marketing Buzz and Woody. We have the action figures (of Buzz, Woody, Rexy, and Jesse), the shaped Mac n' Cheese, Cheez-its, a set of boxed books, a big collector book, the Woody costume (including boots that Lorelai wore straight out of the store chanting "Woody boots" with every step), the go-fish card game, both movies and saw the 3rd one in the theater wearing the 3d glasses, we've got the juices boxes, and the stuffed animals. Obsessed.

Quote of the Day

“One woman will brag about her children, while another complains about hers; they could probably swap children without swapping tunes."~ Unknown

Witerally

Lorelai: I bit Daddy. He witerally (all words that begin with the letter "L" have a bit of a "W" sound to them so even when she says her own name it sometimes sounds like Worelai... so read literally here) spanked me.

Me: Oh no, biting is bad.

Lorelai: Totally.

Edited Version

I used Picasa to play with the lighting, remove the wispy hairs on top of L's head, and added as soft focus and the text. She looks like a porcelain doll. It's almost professional looking.

Sunday Edition of the Portrait Lens

I had so much fun playing with my camera last weekend seeing what worked and what didn't that I decided to try again today. These were taken at the pond in my neighboorhood.

Casey Jones Museum/ Train Store

We stopped by the local tourist stop this morning and played with their train tables and rode the ICRR train ride. Lorelai is obsessed with trains right now and she asked specifically to go there to play!!!

Home Depot Kids Clinic

We went to the Home Depot Kid's Workshop this morning and Lorelai made a school bus pencil holder. She LOVES school buses so this was a great project for her.

Counting Video

Note to Mensa and others watching the video: It has come to my attention that you must turn up the volume on your computer and on You Tube to hear my little counting genius.

She can count, really really count to about 14 or 15. She understands the concept of touching items as she counts off her numbers. And, she can count to about four in her head without having to physically touch the thing being counted. Did I mention she is still 3 months away from her 3rd birthday?!! Amazing. One of her favorite things to do right now is to line up toys, books, etc. in perfect lines around the living room and then show us that she can count them.

Crown Winery

Lorelai and I went to a baby shower in Humboldt, TN on Saturday and on the way home stopped at Crown Winery, it is really cute out there and they make a delicious strawberry wine made from strawberries picked at Green Acres Farm, the place where we get Lorelai's pumpkins every year.
