We went to Nashville to pick Derek and Angie up at the airport, eat at The Cascades in Opryland, see Santa, ride the train, and went to Radio City Music Spectacular... whew!

More Oldies
Here is the first picture of just me and Rusty (not as a couple though... we were at a date party with other dates) Valentines 2001. I think there may be a print picture of us from my 19th birthday somewhere too... maybe I'll try to dig that out and scan it in before my 29th birthday this year!!
Christmas 2000
Here is a picture from Christmas 2000 at the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority House! We had annual gingerbread building contests and everyone wore their jammys. My room mate, Angela, and I took the competition seriously and if I remember correctly we made our gingerbread house look like the AOPi house that year!
Here is an old picture of our "house boys" at the Christmas Party, Rusty's on the far left. Someone sent me this scanned picture, I really wish I had digital pictures from back then... they'd be SO fun to post!
And, heres a funny story that most of you have probably heard a million times... Back in the fall of 2000 Rusty called me because he heard that the AOPi house may be hiring a few house boys. I had no idea, but told him that I'd check with our house mother and get back to him. As it turned out Ms. Reid was indeed looking to hire some strapping young men. And she agreed to "hire" Rusty (I put hire in quotations because the house boys didn't actually get paid... they just ate at the house and went to the parties, and got to hang out with some of the most fabulous girls on campus). Years later, after Rusty and I were engaged Ms. Reid stopped me and told me that she was so happy we were together and how she felt personally responsible for this lovely match up... I must of looked confused because she went on to explain that when I asked her about making Rusty a house boy I said something along the lines of "Oh, Mama Reid... you MUST hire Rusty. I'm in love with him, and want to have a million of his babies." It sounded like something I would say in jest, but to this day I have no recollection of it.... apparently I'll say anything to help a friend get a job! LOL!

I was about to post the song of the day... the one about wanting a tan for Christmas.... which isn't very far from the truth. I'm tired, and by the time next week rolls around I will have been in Court for 12 out of the 13 days prior to my two-day break for Christmas. Rusty will be working for Christmas Eve AND Christmas. I would LOVE to be somewhere tropical... quietly resting, reading, and sipping on a fruity drink. But, it will be a Tennessee Christmas for me this year... though, as long as Lorelai and I are together that's the only place I want to be anyway.

Rusty is serving on the Honor Guard tonight at the visitation and tomorrow at the funeral. The night that Capt. Cagle was shot Rusty stood watch, all night long, at the hospital for his brother in blue. Sad. So, so sad. The thin blue line just got a little thinner.

Elves
Lorelai isn't near as fond of the elves as she is of Santa. She wouldn't go see them by herself... so I took her up. Too bad you can't read the words on my "Santa Is My Homeboy" t-shirt... it's awesome... and Santa thought it was super funny!
