We're off..

The funeral is tomorrow. I'm planning on having a great time with family that we see far too little of, and celebrating this great man's life! I'm hoping to scan some pictures next week of my grandparents (both sides) when they were younger... the older I get the more important they have become.... so stay tuned. Thank you so much for your condolences everyone!!

Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Goodbye Grandpa & Quote of the Day

My grandpa passed away tonight. I love him, and I'm going to miss him. I have such vivid memories of waiting for him to churn homemade ice cream on my grandparents' back porch, getting M&Ms out of his coat pocket during church services, and of sitting on his lap in the drivers seat of the car as he drove away after coming for a visit and saying that I could go back to Ohio and he actually got three or four houses down the street before I quickly got homesick and he let me out to run back as he drove away, and I remember each time that we ended our too short visits he'd say "I was here last". I remember his saw cane, and that each time I was with him there was undoubtly going to be someone to compliment it and ask him where he got it (he made it himself). And more recently I remember him taking such joy in seeing his great grand-daughter sit on the little step in his kitchen commenting that every kid in the family has sat on that step and wanting to make sure that I told my dad Lorelai had sat there. Goodbye Grandpa.

"When you were born you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die you are the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying."

Grandpa

My Grandpa is very sick and we went to visit him this week in Galion, Ohio. We were present for the anointing by the reverend, and I am very grateful that we were able to visit with him and that he was able to teach Lorelai to say "beep" when her nose gets pushed... these pictures of the oldest member of the Cahill family and the youngest are so precious to me.

Family

My mom, Nancy (my dad's cousin), and my Uncle Tom

My Aunt Linda

Cousin Melissa

Cousin Nate and Joddy (my dad's cousin... for those of you who were at my wedding she is the one who made the AMAZING cookie favors)!

We were lucky to see so many family members this past week, though we wish it were under better circumstances. We even got to see my brother Derek and his wife Angie last night at the hotel... they flew into Cleveland at midnight from their anniversary cruise and we weren't flying out until 5 am this morning... so it was a short visit but at least we got to see them... we miss them lots!

My camera is broken...

my camera has been broken for over a week, and I'm starting to have withdraw shakes. I've been shopping around for a suitable replacement, I'm hard on my camera... I take it almost everywhere, I let Lorelai play with it, and as you can tell from my blog I take almost a zillion pictures everyday. I've found a cool Canon that I am dying to have, and I'm planning on having it in by next week... until then at least we have my mom's pictures so that you can see little Lorelai!

My Sister's Keeper

I haven't been to the movies in ages, I am seriously racking my brain to remember the last movie I went too... and I think it might have been Elizabeth over a year ago. But, I want to see this one on the night it is released. June 26th.

My little line dancer...

Lorelai was really really into the line dancers, so I took her out to give it a try and she was actually really, really good at mimicing the steps.

Lorelai and Mommy on the boat ride

My kidd-o loves rides, she rode the boat FIVE times. Rode the train ride at the mall once, rode the rides outside the childrens stores until my mom ran out of quarters (and if you've ever seen my mother's purse you'd know that she almost always has five pounds of change in her purse), and of course we couldn't miss the carousel!
